When traveling through the vastness of the Zero Dawn map, you can search and collect various resources, such as animal skins and plants. These ingredients are useful for creating traps and ammunition, brewing medicinal potions and improving Eloy’s weapons. Crafting is quite simple and straightforward, but the problem with this is sorting your inventory. Your inventory can contain up to 100 items, and in order to understand what you need and what you can sell or throw away, you need to look at all the items and read their brief description.
There are ancient artifacts in the game that you can find during your passage. Although, to be honest, the reward that you get for collecting and selling them is not worth the effort that you will spend on their search.
You can also find underground alien structures. At the heart of each of these intricate dungeons is a device that will give you the ability to hack into a certain type of robotic animal. Some artifacts will make robots fight on your side, others just help to neutralize them faster, and there are also objects with which you can ride on hacked robots. Of course, these artifacts do not work on all opponents – unfortunately, you will not be able to ride the robotic T-Rex, but this is still a very interesting game mechanics.
The world of Zero Dawn is very diverse, you will travel through the hot deserts and green, dense jungle, but you will also visit high-tech dungeons. But, wherever you go, the design of absolutely all locations is simply excellent and it is very pleasant to look at the landscapes of the game.
Horizon Zero Dawn turned out to be a very popular game, and it received positive ratings from both players and numerous critics. In 2018, at the annual Game Awards, Zero Dawn received awards for the best game for the PlayStation 4 platform, best directing, best voice acting, best soundtrack, best history,
best post-release content, best exclusive on PlayStation and the best use of PS4 features Pro in the game.
Soon after the release of the game, the developers released an add-on called The Frozen Wilds, which was included in the Horizon Zero Dawn – Complete Edition. In The Frozen Wilds, Eloy will go to the border of territories belonging to the nomadic Banuk tribe to explore the new mysterious threat of cars. Only having stood the test of the harsh environment and earned the respect of this tribe, Eloy will be able to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to save these lands.
Initially, Zero Dawn was an exclusive designed for PS4 only, but in 2019 Guerrilla Games announced the port of the game on PC, due out in 2020.
Horizon Zero Dawn is the first action / RPG of its kind to be developed for developers at Guerrilla Games, but despite this, they managed to create something simply unbelievable. Even if there are some drawbacks in Zero Dawn, they are insignificant and they are completely overshadowed by the numerous advantages of the game. We can say with confidence that Guerrilla Games created one of the best open world games on the modern generation of consoles.
